Blog 3


When looking at the slave trade, I think it was brought on by both racism and economics; however, I think economics was the main reason. I say this for one main reason, and that's because the trade really picked up and spread when people saw how lucrative the business could be. Slaves were worth a lot of money and could be brought back in great numbers. Not only was the trade lucrative, but it also made the southern economy a lot stronger with the trading itself and the help it gave farming.

There's no doubt that the slave trade had some racism behind it, but it didn't pick up until people knew how lucrative it was and that's why I think it was spurred by economics.
