Week Three Homework Question

It is my belief that economics inspired the slave trade and are what made it what it became. Originally, the slave trade began as a means of jump-starting the economy of the British colonies. Furthermore, with a limited number of Africans also profiting from the slave trade as well as slave trade serving as a way of settling domestic issues economics clearly played a major role in the politics of the slave trade. Although I feel racism was a minor part of the slave trade, I feel it grew as time progressed and was a major result of what the slave trade became. Although forms of punishment toned down as the slave trade grew, science began to make the claim of superior races and further encouraged racism among the inhabitants of North America.
