QUESTION 4

After watching this movie I sit in disgust. I still can't figure out why white people did this. What gave whites the right to do this? To think of this thing called lynching as some sort of entertainment to the whites is an awful thing. I learned that men, women, and even children gathered to witness this horrific misdoing. And to learn that women were being lynched along with men is just so sad to hear. The pictures do make my stomach drop. Back then it seems like everywhere a person went you would see a black person hanging from a tree. Whites viewed African Americans as animals and it was nothing to continue to dehumanize them. Looking at these pictures these white people hung African Americans like they hung hogs. I guess whites did this to intimidate and to let African American know who was superior. Also learning about this just shows why African American history is talked so little about. To bring back these memories just seems like such a hard thing to do.
